Data controller: Sports Stats Ltd (a company registered in England and Wales)
This Privacy Policy explains how Sports Stats Ltd ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the RigBook mobile application ("App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Summary
- RigBook is designed to work offline. The content you create (boats, rig profiles, oar sets, notes) is stored only on your device. We do not collect, receive, or store this content on our servers.
- We do not require an account to use the App. We do not collect your name, email address, or other account identifiers.
- In-app purchases (including subscriptions) are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details. Apple may provide us with limited information (e.g. that a subscription is active) as necessary to enable Premium features.
- We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- The rigging data you enter (boats, rig profiles, oar sets, notes)
- Your name, email address, or other contact details (no account is required)
- Your precise location
- Any data from your device beyond what is described below
All content you create in the App remains on your device unless you choose to export or share it (e.g. via the share sheet to another app or person). That export is under your control; we do not receive or store the shared content.
3. Information That May Be Processed
3.1 Device and App usage (if applicable)
If we introduce analytics or diagnostics in a future version of the App, we will update this policy and describe what we collect (e.g. anonymised crash reports or usage statistics), for what purpose, and on what legal basis. As of the last update of this policy, we do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting services that send data to us.
3.2 In-app purchases (Apple)
When you subscribe to RigBook Premium (or make any in-app purchase), the transaction is processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment card or other payment details. Apple may make available to us information necessary to verify entitlement (e.g. that a subscription is active) so that the App can unlock Premium features. This processing is necessary for the performance of our contract with you (providing the subscription). Apple's privacy policy applies to Apple's processing: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
3.3 Local storage on your device
The App stores your data locally on your device using the device's standard storage (e.g. Core Data / local database). This data is not transmitted to us. Backup of this data (e.g. via iCloud Backup or iTunes backup) is governed by your device and Apple account settings, not by us.
4. Legal Basis (UK GDPR)
Where we process personal data, we do so on the following bases:
- Contract: Processing necessary to provide the App and (where applicable) subscription features.
- Legitimate interests: Improving the App and our services, and defending our rights, where such interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation: Where we must process data to comply with law.
We do not rely on consent for core App functionality. If we introduce optional features that require your consent (e.g. optional analytics), we will ask for consent and explain the use clearly.
5. How Long We Keep Data
- Content you create: We do not hold this data; it exists only on your device (and any backup you make). If you uninstall the App, that local data is removed according to your device's behaviour; we do not retain copies.
- Purchase/entitlement information: We may retain information related to subscription status for as long as necessary to provide the service, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations (e.g. tax and accounting).
6. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data only in the following circumstances:
- Apple: As necessary for in-app purchases and subscription management (Apple is a separate data controller for its own processing).
- Legal requirement: If required by law, court order, or regulatory authority.
- Protection of rights: To enforce our Terms, protect our rights, or protect the safety of users or the public.
We do not share your data with third parties for their marketing purposes.
7. Your Rights (UK)
Under UK data protection law, you have rights including:
- Access: To request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: To request correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure: To request deletion of your personal data (subject to exceptions).
- Restriction: To request that we restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- Objection: To object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Data portability: Where applicable, to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent: Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
- Complaint: You may lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): https://ico.org.uk.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 12. We will respond within one month, subject to any extension permitted by law. Because we do not collect your rigging content or account details, "your data" in our possession may be limited to entitlement or support-related information.
8. Security
We do not transmit or store your rigging data on our systems. For data that we do process (e.g. entitlement information), we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it against unauthorised access, loss, or alteration, in line with applicable law.
9. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have received data from a child under 13, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
10. International Transfers
We are based in the United Kingdom. If we ever use services that transfer data outside the UK, we will ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses) and will update this policy accordingly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy (e.g. in the App or on our website) and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated in the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
