Applies to DivvyUp for iPhone, version 3.0 and later.

Sports Stats Limited, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our"), publishes the iOS application DivvyUp (the "App"), which helps you split bills, keep track of IOUs, claim back client expenses and set a budget.

The Short Version

DivvyUp has no accounts and no analytics. Your IOUs, expenses, splits, budgets and receipt photos stay on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage, which we cannot see.

Only a few things ever leave your device: a photo of a bill or receipt when you choose to scan it, so it can be read; a purchase number so we can check with Apple that you have DivvyUp Pro or scan credits; currency codes when the App looks up an exchange rate; and, on the free plan, what Google needs to show a banner ad. Each is described below.

What We Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts or financial records, and we do not build a profile of you. What reaches us, or a service working for us, is limited to the following.

Bill and receipt scanning. When you scan a bill or receipt (a DivvyUp Pro feature, also available with scan credits), the App sends that one photo, your currency code and, if the first reading did not add up, a short note asking for a second look, over an encrypted connection to our scanning server. The server passes the photo to OpenAI's API, which reads it and returns the items, amounts, merchant, date and tax shown on it, and the server passes that reply back to the App. Our server does not store the photo or the result. Under OpenAI's API terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models, and OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse before deleting it. Only scan documents you are happy to share for this purpose.

Checking your purchase. To make sure only subscribers and credit holders can scan, the App sends a transaction number from your App Store purchase with each scan. It is a number assigned by Apple and does not identify you by name. Our server asks Apple's App Store Server API about that purchase and keeps whether the subscription is active, for up to an hour, so Apple is not asked every time; the number of scans made that day, deleted after about a day, to enforce a fair-use limit; for scan credits, how many were bought and how many have been used since version 3.0, kept for as long as you have credits so that we can honour them; and your IP address with a count of look-ups, deleted after about an hour, to stop people guessing purchase numbers.

Our scanning server runs on Cloudflare, which processes these requests on our behalf and may keep standard technical logs for a short time.

Exchange rates. When you convert an amount between currencies, the App asks the Frankfurter service (api.frankfurter.dev) for the European Central Bank rate. The request contains only the currency codes and, for past expenses, the date. No personal information is sent.

Advertising on the free plan. See Tracking and Advertising below.

What the App Stores on Your Device

The App stores the following in its own private database on your iPhone: friends' names and the IOUs, money and items lent or borrowed between you; splits, including the bill's items, who had what, the totals and the photo of the bill if you scanned one; clients, their reimbursement rules, expenses, mileage, receipt photos, claim reports and payments received; budget categories, monthly limits and spending; the details you choose to put on claim reports: your name, email address and address; and your scan credit balance and settings, such as currency, country for tax, mileage rate and reminders.

iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud, this database is synced through Apple's CloudKit to your own private iCloud storage, so it appears on your other devices. That storage belongs to your Apple Account. We cannot read it, and it is covered by Apple's privacy policy, not ours.

Bank details. If you add bank details to include in split messages, they are kept in the iOS Keychain on this iPhone only, and are sent only when you choose to include them in a message you share.

Messages you share. When you share a split or a claim report, you choose where it goes using the standard iOS share sheet. What you send, and the app you send it with, are then outside DivvyUp.

Permissions the App Requests

Camera, to photograph bills and receipts. Photos are taken only when you press the shutter.

Photos, only through the system photo picker, when you choose a picture of a bill or receipt. The App sees only the photos you pick.

Notifications, if you turn on reminders for IOUs that are due and expenses ready to claim. Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone; they are not sent from a server.

You can change any of these in the iOS Settings app at any time. The App does not use your location, contacts, microphone or health data.

Tracking and Advertising

DivvyUp does not track you across other companies' apps and websites, and never asks for permission to do so, so iOS does not give the App your device's advertising identifier.

On the free plan, the App shows a banner ad from Google AdMob. To show and measure these ads, and to prevent ad fraud, Google may collect information from your device, such as its model and settings, your IP address (from which an approximate location can be worked out) and how you interact with ads. Google handles this under its own privacy policy; see how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

DivvyUp Pro, and the lifetime ad removal sold in earlier versions, turn ads off completely. No ads are shown to subscribers, and Google receives nothing from their devices.

Purchases

DivvyUp Pro subscriptions, the lifetime ad removal and scan credits are sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your name, payment card or Apple Account details. We only learn, through Apple, whether a purchase is active, as described above.

Scan credits were sold in version 2.5 and are no longer on sale. Credits you bought still work.

Children

DivvyUp is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

How to Delete Your Data

You can delete any IOU, split, expense, client or budget category in the App. Deleting the App removes its data from that iPhone.

To remove the copy in iCloud as well, open the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, then the storage section, choose DivvyUp and delete its data. Do this before deleting the App from your last device if you want nothing left.

Our scanning server keeps no photos, and its daily counts and look-up records delete themselves within about a day. If you want us to delete the record of your scan credits, email us with your App Store order number. Please note that once it is deleted, your remaining credits can no longer be used.

Your Rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA and the CPRA give you rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. Almost everything DivvyUp knows is on your devices or in your iCloud, where you can view, change and delete it yourself. For the small amount of information described in What We Collect, contact us and we will help.

We process scans and purchase checks because they are needed to provide the features you ask for, and ads on the free plan in our legitimate interest in funding the App. We do not sell personal information. Apart from the Google ads on the free plan described above, we do not share it for advertising; subscribing to DivvyUp Pro removes those ads. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or, in the EEA, to your local supervisory authority.

Changes to This Policy

If a future version of the App changes what it collects or who it shares information with, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the App Store release notes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
